HIJIRIKAWA MASATO SOLO INTERVIEW

--- Moving forward little by little, even if I'm lost --

Masato, who embraces himself even if he is lost and having difficulties, is still honestly working hard for a reason. However from his words, it is portrayed that he is facing his conflicts sincerely that portrays his robust spirit.

"Even if there are many things that I'm lost in or in pain, I do not hate myself because of that. I think it is necessary for people to get lost and be in pain."

Q: Please tell us your feeling or memories when you first became an idol.

A: The thing about being able to debut as an idol is that, it would seem to be a miracle for my past self. I heard that it could be a great hassle back then, and also add on the fact where I am the eldest son of a plutocrat that I thought eventually I will have to face my fate in the end. However, I went against it and enrolled into Saotome Academy, and to prove that I am serious no matter how it is because I wanted to be acknowledged. That process wasn't easy at all. However, there are too many things that I've learnt about. I've graduated from the academy without any issues, and debuted from thereafter and have begun my career. Of course there are also other reasons, but it is important for me to keep my willpower and diligence. There are times where I get lost and lost sight of myself. Every day, I ask myself of what is right, and if I have grown into that person. When I can't move forward, music is what guides me through.

Q: Usually I don't see (you) being lost, that hearing this from you is surprising.

A: Is that so? I don't know about it myself, but that isn't completely true. Even if there's something that seems small from others' point of view, they still give me conflicts (laughs bitterly). I guess it isn't good to display such an expression. Even if there are many things that I'm lost in or in pain, I do not hate myself because of that. I think it is necessary for people to get lost and be in pain. After that, I think what we have learnt after the hard work is precious.

Q: I've see that you are very active in many areas as an idol. Do you have any fields that you have special interest in?

A: Although singing is the first, I like shibais*. I always think about how it feels if I take up a different route in life. When I am in the role, I think of how the character lived and behaved, since the person I am acting as is not Hijirikawa Masato. In order to do so you need quite some experience. The person I am acting as has a completely different personality. However, I also realize that the when nobody else other than me plays the role, thoughts of me being in the character's place would descend. With that in mind, no matter what the work is, as long as it needs me, I want to put all of my effort in it. Even if by little, I feel like I could widen my world.

*Note: Shibai is a form of Japanese play.

Q: You seem to put on a serious attitude regardless the situation. Do you do that normally?

A: I do not think that it changes much in my daily life. Switching like that is not something that I think I am capable of. By that, it means that I guess it is my strength for not having different sides in and out. It's only that, as an idol you'll have to be more open and show your charisma since the idol world is more glamorous, which is what troubles me. However, if I can't do that I'll just be idle. I wanted to be myself and grow in my own pace. I do think that I moved slower than normal people. However, I wanted to make sure that I form my own personality. Of course, I will also work hard in order to meet everyone's expectations.

Q: As an idol, is there something that you would like to try?

A: On a fundamental level, I think it is important to know how to re-adjust yourself. The stress piled on you on a daily basis would affect you someday. After being in the academy, I tried to make least changes with a fixed rhythm and move on with my life. Waking up early in the morning, and sleep early when there's no work. Although it is simple, the most basic yet important thing w ould be to get enough of sleep.

Q: At last, please let us know about your future career prospects

A: I'll continue wherever I could, and I wanted to work as an idol until the end. I know that it can't be eternal. That's why I wanted to shine as much as I could right now. It would make me feel like I am still alive. I understand that it will end someday, and I also know that there are limited people who would support me, but I wanted to continue singing. Placing an emphasis on experience, and when the time comes I wanted to let everyone see what I have yet to show. Right here, this Hijirikawa Masato swears to continue growing. Let's laugh together, sometimes cry together... I wanted to treasure the time that I have spent with those that have been supporting me.

A: The past. I wanted to show my grandfather on how much I have grown. If it weren't for my grandfather, I don't think I am capable of being an idol*. If I could meet him, I wanted to deliver my thanks to him.

*Note: His grandfather is the only person supported him to pursue performing arts because he is the one taught Masato the beauty in performing arts. His father was denial about it and he was only able to enter Saotome academy for 1 year due to negotiations from his grandfather to see his progress. However, his grandfather passed away in the game before he made his debut, but his abilities have been acknowledged.

Q7: IF you have a day to turn into anything, what would you turn yourself into?

A: During work, especially in the dialogue readings, I had deep insights. I do understand and acknowledge the difficulties, but I wanted to be in the place where I can make the world smile. However, I am not having the confidence on doing so.

Q8: How do you spend your time waiting for somebody/ something?

A: If I have a longer free time, I would exercise my hands and create crafts, something like embroidery and knitting. I usually gift them to my younger sister*.

*Note: His younger sister is named Hijirikawa Mai. Both of them has a huge age gap but Mai admires Masato a lot.

A: Instead of saying which to ride on, I prefer rides that connects people to see those who ride enjoys as well. If I had to go for a ride with somebody, I suppose something that is quiet.

Q12: What is the item that you really wanted that would heal you?

A: When I finished writing something (through calligraphy). If I am in the mood, I would write haikus. When I am capable of writing something decent, I feel really great about it.

Q13: Is there a place that you would like to go now?

A: I don't have a specific place. Though I do have some interest in travelling by train. Without determining the destination, I think it is enjoyable to explore in a casual manner.

Q14: What's work to you?

A: A place where I see my everyday effort bears fruit. I received everyone's views and genuinely feel happy about it. Not just in singing, but in shibai as well. For that, I'll improve myself with all my might*.

*Note: In his limited-edition fan merchandise, it has his quote of "Hibishoshin", which means to improve everyday.

Q15: What are fans to you?

A: Those that has been watching over me. I wish to deliver the same smile towards them, just like how I received joy form them. In such a way that it feels like as if there's a warm light. As always, thank you very much.

---------------------
ITTOKI OTOYA SOLO INTERVIEW

Q1: In your life up until now, what would be the turning point?
Otoya: I think it would be enrolling into the Saotome Academy as an idol. I've always loved music since a long time ago but after listening to Shinning Saotome's "Ai no yue ni"*, [lit: Doing smth. for love], I thought of becoming an idol! The teacher from middle school also recommended it and I sat for the exam. I think that the academy that the old man created for those who aiming to be an idol is the best. But, now that I recall it, I've always passed~. Thank goodness that there're the ability tests and the interview (laughs) Personally, I've grown up being separated from the people who're important to me. I grew up not knowing who my real parents are and the aunt who raised me died when I was little. It was really hard and even though I've cried a lot but I think that I should work hard for portion as well.
*Note: Saotome Shining was a popular singer before he opens Saotome Academy, he defeated Otori Raging's best-selling record before Raging retires with the song "Ai no yue ni".

Q2: How was the school life in the academy?
Otoya: When I remembered it, I was shocked to find a lot of amazing things. There're a lot of things that I've overcome. Rather than saying that there're continuous trials, even though I was so into that moment that I failed to notice it (laughs) but I think that I've made many friends since then. To be able to support each other, and to walk towards the same dream is the best feeling. I've grown a lot too and it's all thanks to the tough school life that it turned out this way. Either way, I don't think I'll become who I am now!

Q3: Now then, do you think that it's dreadful becoming an idol?
Otoya: Rather than a dreadful feeling, I think that there're probably more fun things instead. A lot has happened since training at the academy and debuting as an idol, I've thought about it in my own way. Like how do I wanna live from now on, there're times when I was troubled, you know. But of course, there's nothing other than singing to me and the feeling of wanting others to listen doesn't change. That's why, I think that even though there'll be difficult times, but I think that if there're people cheering for me, I'll be able to do my best!

Q4: On the contrary, what's the happiest thing in becoming an idol?
Otoya: There're so many that I can't choose one (laughs) but I feel blessed every time when I'm singing a new song. Of course, there's of course the solo songs, the songs that are sung multiple times too, everything! For my solo song, I think the person that has created it has made it special. I am happy that melodies that only that person could discover is reflected in the song where everyone sings!"

Q5: What kind of idol do you want to be from now on?
Otoya: I want to get more experience, to face other things on my own, and slowly understanding the things that I've not faced before. In the past, I've always prioritized the things I'm good at and the things that I like, recently, I thought that "perhaps I could challenge things that I'm not good at,". In that aspect, although, I think that there'll be things like failures, things that can't be done well, but I think that also includes that part of myself as well. I want to show different sides of myself!

Q6: In general, what would you like to challenge?
Otoya: Maybe songs that have a different image of me, or maybe a different role in dramas or something like that. If the people feel surprised when they see it, that would be great. Maybe they would also say something like "Woah, that's a surprise! But it fits (him) well!" Of course, I think that there'll also be strict comments. Because of that, I don't wanna stop accepting it!

Q7: Lastly, could you please leave a word for your future self?
Otoya: Etto, have you become a cool, good adult? Or perhaps, you haven't changed much? Whichever will it be, it's still me, before reaching there, so I don't think that I'll recklessly be everything, even in the future, I wanna shine brightly as an idol! I'll do my very best!

-------------------------------------------------------------

15 Q&A WITH ITTOKI OTOYA
Q1: If compared with the you in the past, what has changed?
Otoya: I think I might have calmed down just a bit! Now, I would think before I act. But, the feelings that are the most important thing to me would probably never change.

Q2: What is your treasure?
Otoya: I think it's definitely the guitar that I started with. And the soccer ball that I had since a long time ago too! I feel that the longer I've spent with them, the more precious they're to me.

Q3: What is the average amount of sleep?
Otoya: I guess it's probably about 7 hours? If there's a chance, I would want to sleep a bit more, but there are jobs after becoming an idol, so it's probably nighttime (if I could take the chance to sleep more).

Q4: What kind of pet to have?
Otoya: Even though it's not an animal, but I would want to buy a cactus! Although cacti are said to be plump, but I would observe the flower blooming and its growth daily.

Q5: What is the favourite part of your body?
Otoya: Probably my teeth. Because everyone praised me for it! Recently, I've been training my abs and I think I've got a good feeling about it. Though, there won't be many chances of seeing it (laughs)

Q6: If you were to board a time machine, which would you go to? The past or the future?
Otoya: That's so difficult! I wanna go to both! So is it bad that I can't choose? If I have to say either one, that'd probably be the future? I really wanna see the future!

Q7: If you can be anything for a day?
Otoya: I really wanna become a professional soccer player and play in a match! It's a world whereby victories and defeats mattered after all, it has an excitement that's different from being an idol, right?

Q8: What do you do most during your waiting time?
Otoya: I don't have anything in particular. I tend to do the things I wanna do to keep me relaxed. Sleep when I'm feeling sleepy, eat when I feel hungry, I'm just freely doing them.

Q9: What animal would you portray yourself as?
Otoya: A dog. I've been told that I'm similar to a dog in terms of its straightforwardness and its clinginess*. It's because I like to move my body too, so I'll be happy if I have a dog to walk with.

Q10: What is your own recent trend?
Otoya: A little while ago, I've been riding a bike. Still ongoing with giant bikes! Eventually, I have a craving for a new bike so it's really hard to endure it*!
*Side note: 'it' refers to the temptations of getting a new bike.

Q11: What is your favourite ride in an amusement park?
Otoya: I like riding the rides that goes round and round! Like the coffee cup ride, I might go overboard if I spin it myself. It's fun to get dizzy too. (laughs)

Q12: What is the item that you really wanted that would heal you?
Otoya: When I'm feeling down, I would sing even when my heart's feeling heavy. It'll be best if I have a guitar! Then, I'll feel very happy!

Q13: What is the place that you want to visit the most?
Otoya: The places with nice sceneries! A place with loads of nature, with tasty food would be great~. Like the sea, the mountain, I wanna play a lot!

Q14: What is a job to you?
Otoya: In the midst of continuing a dream. I wanna become an idol, I wanna make my feelings of wanting to sing come true. From now on, I really wanna treasure it.

Q15: What do the fans mean to you?
Otoya: They're the existence that gives me power. Of course, I think I wanna give back more than receiving! 'I wanna make everyone smile,' that's what I always thought.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
KUROSAKI RANMARU SOLO INTERVIEW
---- Greedily moving forward with the burning soul in his chest ----
Kurosaki Ranmaru who switched to being an idol from a band man. Has his own ism for being an idol.
"Even if you asked for something firmly you can only get a fraction of it. That is a basis of being a pro. From there I'll show who I am, and that's my way."
Q: Please tell us your feeling or memories when you first became an idol.
A:
I have never thought of being an idol at the first place, being (an idol) alone is also something that I have never thought of before. Because I started to play in bands when I reached Tokyo.* That old man Shining scouted me and I had completely zero interest at all. Well, I was thinking "Why me?" at that point of time too. "Since I could do things with my favorite music that wouldn't be bad," I thought. Somehow, I felt that way. Regardless I also realized that it wasn't a reluctant feeling so I went on with it. Even if it is my first time doing this, it was fulfilling.
* Note: He came from Miyagi.

Q: Is that so... It shows so much of your personality even for your history of being an idol.
A: Well I guess I stand out because I am not someone that is idol-like. That's why I received a lot comments on I have changed after being an idol. However, I see them as compliments. Maybe this isn't idol-like, maybe it's more of me being myself. Still, work is work. Once I've started, I wouldn't pull my hands off it. Whether I wanted to do something or not to do something it is all based on my feeling, not based on any biased thoughts. Even if you asked for something firmly you can only get a fraction of it. That is a basis of being a pro. From there I'll show who I am, and that's my way. Especially during recent days, there are a lot of work that I have never done before as an idol. I have a lot more to learn from there.

Q: What are the most memorable impression left to you in your recent work?
A: An idol-like (impression) would be the work chocolate image character. I worked with Ai. In general the work requires idols to smile. Of course, I ended up doing it my way. Then there is another one with Masato on a comic dialogue. I don't know how on earth we got that job offer, but in the end it was still a great session. New challenges are not bad. You will know worlds that you never knew. That sounds impossible, but it isn't a matter of can or can't. If you give up even before you do it, It's completely over.

Q: How do you feed that hungry spirit of yours?
A: Well, for my progress until today a lot has happened. If I give up I'll die somewhere. I can't live in a world with only beautiful things. Reality always have something for you. That might sound unbelievable, though. From there I start to think on what I should do, and make a selection on my own. The cycle repeats until today. Of course I don't always succeed. I failed a lot back then. But I didn't give up and kept moving forward. Even from now onwards I think the thought is important. I'll go on a path where I'll keep on moving forward.

Q: Now, please let us know your ambitions and future path that you have aimed for.
A: It isn't something that I could completely decide. Until then, I will do things when I want to do them. I guess it doesn't matter if what I will do in the future differs from what I think I wanted to do in the past. It's not just about what I will do, but it is more important on what I want to do. I want to be honest to myself. If I lie to myself, I don't think I could do it with a right mind. Also, on top of anything else I don't want to do anything that would cause those who supported me to be sad. I can't disappoint the one that supports and understand me the most after all. I'll sing for their smiles.

Q: Finally, please leave a message to your fans that has been supporting you.
A: It isn't like there is a difference from what I'd like to say, I think they understand me well and know what I'd want to tell them, since I've been saying this for so many times. However, I'll tell something important. That is, I have my own way of living. I can feel all of your burning hearts. For them, I'll show you my burning soul. So follow my lead.

============================================

15 Questions with Ranmaru!

Q1: Anything changed compared to your past self?
A: I feel like I could live on. Before coming to Tokyo I had problems even when it comes to getting food. I guess the thing that changed is my sense of security in life.

Q2: What's your treasure?
A: My bass. That instrument is my life. Without it I can't calm down. I am crazy for it to the extent where even if I am busy I'll touch it at least once a day.

Q3: How many hours do you sleep on average?
A: I nap*, so I guess it's a pretty decent time. If I weren't doing anything I'd sleep right away. If I were to really sleep it'd be above 8 hours.
*Note: Napping is his hobby.

Q4: If you have a pet, what is it?
A: Cats. Living together with the cats is getting progressively better. Since they are also growing up it is kinda great that the time needed for labor* is reduced.
* Note: By labor it means to feed and clean things up for the cats. Ranmaru has three cats in his apartment.

Q5: Which of your body part do you like the most?
A: Hands. Compared to other guys my hands are pretty large. As a bassist, fingers are valuable. Since I use them often (for the bass) they are definitely my favorite part.

Q6: If there were a time machine, would you prefer to travel to the past or the future?
A: The future. Even if I return to the past I can't change anything. I guess it's good enough to remember the past. Who knows, I might not even be going to the future as well.

Q7: IF you have a day to turn into anything, what would you turn yourself into?
A: Don't have anything that I wanted to become. It's not that I wanted to be something, but I guess I could be a good chef. Though I only ate a little back then.

Q8: How do you spend your time waiting for somebody/ something?
A: Nap. If I'm hungry I'll eat whatever that is in the catering. It is the worst feeling if you are on work and have an empty stomach. For both (nap and eating) are to prepare myself for the work.

Q9: If you are an animal, what would you be?
A: Huh? What's with giving an example? I don't understand. Isn't anything great? As long as it's wild and rocking it's fine.

Q10: What is your own recent trend?
A: Eating fruits. Especially bananas. Since you can carry it around, it's delicious and can fill your stomach. It's the best. It's also kind to the wallet that it helps a lot.

Q11: What's your favorite attraction in theme parks?
A: I don't go there often so I don't know much about it. Isn't it just fine to go for whatever nice that comes into your eyes?

Q12: What is the item that you really wanted that would heal you?
A: Delicious food. Isn't it the best feeling when you can eat your favorite food? When you are full, your heart calms down too.

Q13: Is there a place that you would like to go now?
A: A place where there is nature would be great. The sea or the mountains, as long as there's a great view it's fine. It'd also be great to visit lands that I haven't visited yet.

Q14: What's work to you?
A: A technique to live on. Because if one doesn't work they can't eat. But, there is something more important than that. If you don't have dreams life doesn't have a meaning.

Q15: What are fans to you?
A: Those who understand me. They feel whatever that I do. They understand my joy and sadness. That kind of feeling.

UtaPri 5th Anniversary Translation!

6/12/2016 05:53:00 PM 0 Comments A+ a-

Hi! This is Jin a.k.a Admin Yamashina speaking.

Since the end of April this year, my UtaPri fanpage has started a poll to decide the order of translation releases for 11 idols + 2 teachers in the Uta no Prince-sama series!

The content are taken from the 5th Anniversary book itself. We’ve begun the translation project and would update it on our facebook page on a weekly basis! I will update it in my personal blog and Tumblr after the facebook update, but I’ll place more emphasis on my FB fanpage, so if you haven’t followed it, please give it a like! ♡
We will release the translations for the following:
1. Solo interview with the idols (Quotes from the teachers because teachers don’t have interview parts)
2. 15 Questions with the idols
3. Seiyuu comments

The reason why I decide to post them on my blog and Tumblr are simple: I wanted to make an announcement that we are working on this and I personally do not wish that my work is being duplicated elsewhere or are being compared to other translations. If any of you, my dear readers, found someone else taking my work off me and post them elsewhere, please, please let me know. I don’t want my work to be taken without my consent.

For those that have missed the previous translations, here they are! I’ll update the links on a weekly basis just as how I release the translations on Facebook. :)

Ittoki Otoya: https://goo.gl/3Ol0IY

Whether you like this series or not, I hope you would genuinely enjoy the translations! <3
