The streetlights outside the window suddenly lighted up, leaving a small patch of warm light in this dark night.

I wonder if the people following me are still there...

Lu Chen: The people out there have left.

I'm a little surprised, although I've only knew him for a few minutes, but Lu Chen seems to be able to see through whatever I'm thinking.

You: How do you know?

Lu Chen: I saw it.

You: But the streetlights weren't on, that it's hard to see anything.

Lu Chen: Perhaps it is exactly because it's late night, that I can see a little more clearer.

You: Eh? I've only heard of night blindness, but have never seen someone with a better vision at night.

Lu Chen only smiled, and did not answer my question directly.

Lu Chen: But, those people have only just left. If you aren't in a hurry, you can sit here for a little longer.

I nodded, and turned my head over towards the TV mounted on the wall with Lu Chen. The movie just now is still playing.

Lu Chen: The owner of this shop seems to love this movie a lot.

You: Are you a regular here?

Lu Chen: Yeah, it's almost every time that this movie is played. But, never for once I think I have actually seen the ending of this movie.

You: I actually can remember the ending of this movie, but you wouldn't like to get spoiled, right?

Lu Chen: It's alright, I do not mind spoilers. On the contrary, I actually like to be spoiled. But it looks like it's almost the ending. 

In the movie, the girl wanted to hire the man to avenge her family, but was rejected. So she gave another suggestion, to join the mafia. The weird yet tender way of them getting along began. The girl brightened the coldness of the lone man that has lived mechanically, making him to understand what happiness and pain is. The man that has been sleeping with a gun on a sofa, for the very first time, slept through a defenseless night on a bed.

On the next day, the girl's enemies found her, a fierce battle ensues.

Lu Chen: Allow me to guess, he did not stay together with the girl in the end, he's killed, right?

You: Did you really have not seen the ending before? That's a very accurate guess.

Lu Chen: Because the him right now is different from the past. He has a weakness, the weakness that is  weak enough to be fatal.

In the movie, the man smashed the ventilation pipe open with an axe, forcing the girl to leave him and escape.

Lu Chen: If you were him, will you do that too?

[Choice]

Light: Yes 

Night: No

[Light Choice: Yes]

After giving it a serious thought, I nodded.

Lu Chen: Even willing to give up your own life?

You: Yes. This man has joined the mafia at a very young age, and he has been living for others since forever. Only until the moment he met the girl, his life has truly began. To be able to live for yourself for once, then there will be no regrets. Because all of the pain and happiness are genuine.

Lu Chen quietly listened to me, the spark in his eyes slightly shaken.

You: ... Did I say too much?

Lu Chen: The look on your face is very convincing, and gave me a very different insight.

You: How about you?

Lu Chen gazed into my eyes, and shook his head.

[Night Choice: No]

After giving a serious thought, I shook my head.

You: I don't think I would probably do that, although it's really touching move, but it's too much stake. After meeting the girl, fate has brought him accidents again and again. Isn't that a reminder to him, that this path might be wrong? But it's also perhaps I have no such experience. I can't be sure that I'll be this selfless when I am involved in a life-or-death situation.

Lu Chen's expression looked surprised, as if he would expect a different answer from me.

You: Why is that? Was I wrong anywhere?

Lu Chen: Of course not. On the contrary, my choice is the same as yours.

You: Why is that?

Lu Chen: I think if it were me, I might not even open the door for the girl from the very beginning.

The movie has quickly entered its ending, the light from loud explosion in the movie flows out from the screen, veiling over Lu Chen's face.

Staff: We're sorry, we are closing soon.

As soon as the sentence ends, "paa--" the TV has been shut off.

You: It's a pity that we still can't see the ending.

Lu Chen stood up, smiled at me helplessly.

Lu Chen: Let's go.

You: Right, the money for coffee earlier, let me transfer it to you?

Lu Chen: No need. Consider it as my gratitude to you, for telling me how to pick a tie clip. How do you plan to go back? It's late night now, it's not always safe to be alone. If you don't mind, how about you let me send you back?

You: There's no need to trouble you, I can call a cab back.

Lu Chen did not continue to insist, pushed the door open and walked out of the shop with me. We quietly waited for a cab under the roofs, and the wind chime from the wooden door of the coffee shop made a crisp jingle.

A little later, a cab has slowly stopped at the alley.

You: Then I'll take my leave, thank you very much for today.

Lu Chen: You've said "thank you" for many times.

I was a little embarrassed by his words, and looked down in embarrassment.

You: Because I am really thankful, whether it were to help me out, or for the coffee, or for the movie. In short, I'm glad to have met you tonight, Lu Chen.

Lu Chen: Alright, be careful.

Boarding the cab, I looked backwards, Lu Chen is still standing there, the gentle lights are shrouding him. The car drives forward stably, in the depth of the dark night, under the dazzling neon lights, the danger happened earlier seemed to have only been a nightmare of mine.
